This course is a history of 1950s rock ‘n’ roll, focusing on the advent of the genre; the ascension of Elvis Presley as the king; contributions of Black artists; the life and death of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the Big Bopper; and the segue into the 1960s. It will be lecture, with plenty of video clips of performances. No preparation time required.
